The power that stories, beliefs, and values have to influence change in the human psyche has always captivated me. I began my academic pursuit with an Honors B.A. from the University of Toronto, majoring in English and minoring in Writing & Rhetoric and Philosophy. (I’ve always believed that thinking helps writing and vice versa.) After a few years in the publishing industry, working as an editor and fact-checker, I decided to go back to school so I could help people change their stories instead of just being able to help people tell them. I’m now in the final year of my master’s program of Couple and Family Therapy at Antioch University Seattle, where I am also pursuing an AASECT-approved certificate in Sex Therapy.
When listening to clients, I pay special attention to their philosophies, emotional worlds, intellectual worlds, stories, and the meanings they derive from their experiences. I listen with respect, seeking to understand before anything else should occur. As a member of the LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and polyamory communities, I’m deeply committed to being a non-judgmental, safe person for people with all experiences, preferences, lifestyles, backgrounds, body types, and beliefs to explore their truths with.
