Steffen Counseling Services would like to extend a warm welcome to our former clinical intern turned full-time SCS employee- Callie Houk! Callie comes to us from The Seattle School, and has been a wonderful addition to our team this past year.
Callie is a queer-identified professional based in Bellingham, Washington. Her/their passion lies in providing trauma-informed psychodynamic therapy, guided by the principles of attachment theory and interpersonal neurobiology. The practice is dedicated to helping individuals gain a profound understanding of themselves, their nervous systems, and their relationships. Callie embodies a warm, empathic, and collaborative therapeutic style. They believe in the power of active listening and partnership, recognizing that individuals are the experts of their own lives. Callie’s commitment is to join clients on a journey of healing and self-discovery that leads to personal growth and transformative change.
Clients can anticipate an approach deeply rooted in psychodynamic theory during sessions. Callie believes that understanding the past is crucial for navigating the present, and self-awareness is a key catalyst for personal growth. Drawing from attachment theory, she acknowledges the pivotal role early relationships play in shaping emotional landscapes. Additionally, her therapeutic approach focuses on helping clients improve emotional regulation by understanding their nervous system. For those who have experienced trauma and PTSD, navigating overactive nervous systems and dissociation is a common challenge. The path towards healing and integration involves safely reconnecting with the body and mind. With Callie, clients can explore their inner world, past experiences, attachment patterns, and nervous system responses, through a process that fosters safety, understanding, greater self-acceptance, and healthier connections with others.
If Callie’s approach resonates with you, or if you’re simply curious to explore if therapy with Callie is the right fit, we invite you to schedule an initial 10-minute phone or video consultation session. This introductory meeting offers an opportunity to connect with Callie, ask any initial questions you may have, and gauge whether she aligns with your needs. Alternatively, if you’re ready to take the plunge, you can schedule your first session directly on our client portal. Scheduling takes 2-3 minutes and can be done from your phone or computer without downloading anything. We look forward to assisting you on this journey of self-discovery and connection.
Thank you for considering Steffen Counseling Services as your partner in growth and well-being. We are here to support you every step of the way.
Warm regards,
The Steffen Counseling Services Team
